Reverse GST calculator — and the slabs that actually apply
Add GST to a price, or pull it back out of one, on the slabs that actually apply since September 2025. Shows the CGST and SGST split for your invoice.
GST — add it, or pull it back out
Slabs as they stand after the 22 September 2025 restructure. The old 12% and 28% general slabs are gone.
Within one state a supply is split evenly into CGST and SGST; across states it is a single IGST at the same total rate. Some specific goods still sit outside these four — precious metals at 3%, tobacco at 28% until it transitions — so check your own HSN code rather than assuming. This is arithmetic, not tax advice.
Where this came from
The questions behind the arithmetic.
Every answer here is either arithmetic you can redo yourself or a published rate with its date on it. Nothing is rounded in our favour, because there is no version of this where that helps you.
How do I remove GST from a total amount?
Divide the total by 1 plus the rate. The formula is: taxable value = inclusive amount × 100 ÷ (100 + rate). On an ₹1,180 invoice at 18%, the base is ₹1,000 and the GST is ₹180.
What are the GST slabs in India right now?
Since 22 September 2025 there are four: 0%, 5%, 18% and 40%. The 12% and 28% slabs were removed in the GST 2.0 reform. A great many calculators online still list them, which is worth knowing before trusting one.
How is GST split into CGST and SGST?
Within one state, CGST and SGST are each exactly half. ₹180 of GST at 18% is ₹90 CGST plus ₹90 SGST. Between two states it is not split at all — it is a single IGST of the full ₹180.
What is the reverse GST formula?
Taxable value = inclusive amount × 100 ÷ (100 + rate). GST amount = inclusive amount minus taxable value. Forward it is simply GST = price × rate ÷ 100.
Which slab applies to what I sell?
A separate question, and this page does not guess at it. The rate depends on the HSN or SAC code for the specific goods or service, and it changes. Ask someone who does compliance for a living.
Does this calculator send my numbers anywhere?
No. It runs entirely in your browser. Load the page, turn off your internet, and it still works — which is easier than taking the claim on trust.
The other three.
WhatsApp cost
Meta charges per message now, not per conversation, and almost nobody selling you a WhatsApp campaign mentions the bill that arrives afterwards. Put your own numbers in.
FreeRetainer vs one-off
The market sells months. Move the slider and see what a year, or three, of a monthly retainer adds up to next to paying once and owning it.
FreeAd break-even
Before you boost anything, find out how many orders a day it has to bring in just to break even. Most people have never done this sum.
Numbers are the easy part.
The harder question is whether people can find you at all. The free scan answers that in under a minute, in writing, and you keep the findings.
